The Miracle of Baby Milestones

By November 15, 2019April 1st, 2022No Comments

OK, the word ‘miracle’ may be a little OTT for some of you reading this, but baby milestones are pretty increadible. Not just for baby but for mummy/daddy too!

The rumours are true…

From personal experience it would seem the rumours are true: babies do not stay babies for very long at all. A new born is significantly different to that of a 1 year old, from feeding to sleeping and all things in between. Some babies are quicker to their feet and others you can have a full blown conversation with pretty early on.

I believe it’s true to say all babies reach their milestones and develop in their own individual way and at their own pace.

Obviously, with your first born everything is all so new. Not only are you trying to teach and encourage your baby as they develop, but as a new parent you are also learning new things daily too.

Of course, every child is different, so whether it’s your 1st/2nd/3rd …. child, you can expect ‘every day to be a school day’ when you’re a parent!

Wishing time away…

I remember carrying a heavy car seat, one handed, loaded up like a pack horse across a carpark in the pouring rain, thinking it will be so much easier when she walks! Now my little girl (Ivy) is a walking, semi-talking toddler, I can assure you this is not the case! Going from being all smiles and eagerly running to the car to now having to drag her out of the play park like I have abducted her. Oh how times have changed! I don’t know about you but it’s not until I come across a new born do all the memories come flooding back of how far along my own daughter has come. As much as I am willing her to progress, I feel each moment is precious and try to embrace the change. My baby is still my baby but now in the body of a little opinionated toddler.

You just wait…

I regularly hear this phrase from other mums. Sometimes it drives me nuts to hear, but I really can sympathise with it. Each Milestone brings new and exciting revelations but each also bring their own challenges too. I found once I managed to get my baby to sleep through the night with her feeds, she would then wake herself rolling as she couldn’t roll back.

Being mum…

I know throughout the milestones we have reached I have had very mixed emotions which I didn’t quite expect.

I remember being stood in the supermarket, Ivy was desperate for new milk bottles and arguing with myself. Do I buy another baby’s bottle or should I be buying a sippy cup? ‘Should’ being the main word there. I guess I just wasn’t ready to admit she wasn’t a baby anymore… as silly as it sounds, it took me a moment to figure the word baby is of course not defined by a teat. At the end of an argument with myself I bought a sippy cup for her. It still delivers the same end goal for her and she is happy.

With potty training looming I can only imagine the relief I will feel once we have finally cracked it!

Keeping memories…

Those who know me, know I love a good photo! So when something makes me smile and warms my heart I tend to get a little bit (A LOT) snap happy! I quite literally have photos coming out of my ears. But they’re just so precious!

How do you make your memories last?

Here are some of the key baby milestones we’ve gone through:

How do you keep track of your baby milestones? Do you have a memory box? Do you keep a diary?

HAve you noticed we recently added a little milestone tracker to our Annual Pass Booklets? It’s a simple but oh-so-cute way of helping you to treasure your little one’s ‘Farmer Palmer’s Firsts’.
