Dorset Tourism Awards

On the evening of Thurs 8th Nov 2018 Farmer Palmer’s attended the Dorset Tourism Awards at Poole Lighthouse.

“Now in it’s 6th year, the Awards broke all records in celebrating the best of Dorset tourism and also as the route for Dorset businesses to win in the South West” (Dorset Tourism Website)

Guest speaker, and Dorset resident, the impressionist Debra Stephenson gave a thoroughly entertaining introduction to the evening with her ‘friends’, getting everyone in the mood for a fun filled evening.

The tables were beautifully set and a delicious 3 course dinner was served by Tony Beales Gourmet Catering and the wonderful Lighthouse team.

And the Winner is . . .

Farmer Palmer’s Customer Service Ambassador (more affectionately known as the ‘Moo Man’), Dougie Macandrew was up for Customer Service Superstar (sponsored by Bournemouth Water Business).

The category was mid way through the event and the presenter gave a heartwarming introduction to the significance of this award. He explained there had been many nominations from across the county by employers, colleagues, third parties and secret shoppers. Therefore, when Dougie was declared the Winner, we were just over the ‘moooon’!  The atmosphere in the whole room was so warm and supportive, it really was a fabulous evening. You can watch the moment Dougie received his award: Video of Dougie receiving the Dorset Tourism Award.

A record breaking 72 trophies were presented across 27 categories. It was a wonderful celebration of the dedication and hard work that local people show through their Tourism Businesses. Huge congratulations to all the finalists, highly recommended and winners. We are incredibly proud to be a part of such an amazing industry and county.

As a Winner of the Dorset Tourism Awards, Dougie is now automatically considered for any matching categories in the South West Excellence Awards – Very exciting! We’ll keep you updated on his progress . . .
