A Gentle Day Out at Farmer Palmer’s for Mums-to-Be & New Mums

If you’re looking for a relaxed, family-friendly day out in Poole, Dorset, Farmer Palmer’s has been a favourite of mine for many years.

As an annual pass holder, it’s somewhere I’ve returned to time and time again with my own children — and it’s a place I often recommend to the mums I support. Whether you’re expecting, adjusting to life with a newborn, or simply meeting a friend with little ones, it offers a gentle, welcoming environment that never feels overwhelming. Even better, little ones under 2 go free, making it a great option in those early years

There’s plenty to enjoy at your own pace — from meeting and feeding the animals and gentle outdoor walks, to soft play, a park, bouncy castles, and ride-on tractors. In the warmer months, the splash park is a real highlight, along with planned seasonal events, while the café offers a perfect spot to sit down, refuel, and take a moment for yourself.

What I love most is that it doesn’t have to be a big, exhausting day out. You can dip in and out of activities, take breaks when you need to, or simply enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery for an hour or two — something that can be so beneficial during pregnancy and in those early postnatal weeks. Ideal if you are looking for things to do when pregnant in Dorset.

As a midwife and the face behind Dorset Pregnancy Therapies,

I also understand that pregnancy symptoms such as back pain, pelvic discomfort, or sickness can sometimes make even simple outings feel like a challenge. If that’s the case, it doesn’t have to mean missing out.

Through my work, I support women through pregnancy and after birth with gentle, individualised treatments designed to ease common discomforts, reduce stress, prepare for birth and help you feel more comfortable and confident in your body.

Sometimes, having the right support can make all the difference — helping you get back to enjoying simple days out like these.

So, whether it’s your first visit or somewhere you already love, Farmer Palmer’s is a wonderful local gem to explore at your own pace with your growing family.

If you’d like a little extra support to feel more comfortable during pregnancy or after birth, you’re always welcome to get in touch to find out more.
