Off the beaten track, into the trees
Somewhere past the go-karts, the path slips away from the noise and into the woods. It gets shady. It gets quieter. The River Sherford runs along beside you, ferns crowd in at the edges, and the lake opens up through the trees.
And then, half-hidden in the undergrowth, something enormous is looking right back at you.
Every dinosaur on the trail is life-size. Your map marks roughly where they are — actually spotting them is another matter entirely. A tail through the ferns. A horn behind a trunk. Then all of it at once.
Beside each one stands a board with its name on, and how to say it. Children who have never met a Triceratops before will be pronouncing it properly by the second bridge, and correcting you by the third.
It’s a short, flat walk with little bridges to cross — made for little legs and easy with a buggy. A mini adventure rather than a hike. Bring a picnic, take as long as you like: this is the part of the day where everyone breathes out.

Here’s what makes this different from every other dinosaur trail: these ones have names.
Dinosaur Roar, Dinosaur Boo, Dinosaur Munch and friends come from The World of Dinosaur Roar! — the best-selling series of children’s books created by Peter Curtis, inspired by the picture-book classic Dinosaur Roar!, which has been a bedtime staple for over thirty years.
The books were produced in association with the Natural History Museum in London, and every dinosaur was approved by the museum’s Department of Earth Sciences. The boards along the trail carry the same real species names and how to pronounce them — so while your child is busy making friends with a grumpy Triceratops, they’re quietly getting their tongue around the word too.

Orange, feathered and full of mischief. He’ll leap out with a “BOO!” every chance he gets, and his pranks almost always backfire.

Enormous, blue, and permanently hungry. That colossal neck is for reaching food, high and low, and he’s never once been full after lunch.

Turquoise, with plates down her back and a long spiky tail she simply cannot control. She means well. Things still end up knocked over.

Fun fact
Boo and Flap are both covered in feathers — and that’s not artistic licence. Palaeontologists now know plenty of dinosaurs were feathered.

How do I get an Activity Pack?
The dinosaur packs can be added to your basket when reserving a visit or booking tickets — or picked up at the entrance or the shop on the day.
How much is the Activity Pack?
£3.99.
What ages is it for?
It’s designed with pre-schoolers in mind and loved by the whole family. Farmer Palmer’s is built for 0–8 year olds.
Can I take a pushchair or wheelchair round?
Yes. The path is flat the whole way, with a few little bridges to cross, and is buggy and wheelchair friendly throughout.
Do the dinosaurs move or make noise?
The dinosaurs do not move or make noises, which makes them ideal for little ones, or for those with SEND who prefer no sudden noises.
How long does the trail take?
Between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on little legs and how long you would like to dwell in the tranquil woodland. Please allow a little longer for the walk down the avenue and back to reach the trail entrance.
Do I need to book?
Yes, all visits must be pre-booked. Booking online is cheaper than paying at the gate.
