Naughty November is Coming… But We Have a Plan
November has a bit of a reputation among tourist attractions in Dorset.
He arrives with late sunrises and early sunsets, watching the natural daylight slip below the horizon — or disappear beneath a shroud of cloud — while whispering in a persuasive little voice:
“You could just stay home today…”
And, to be fair, we understand.
By November, Christmas suddenly starts to feel very real. The wonderfully organised among you may already be well into the Christmas shopping — some may even have finished! Others are sensibly saving their pennies for December. The weather becomes less predictable, the days feel shorter, and family days out can easily slip off the calendar.
We have seen it happen in previous Novembers.
The farm becomes quieter.
There are fewer little voices chatting to the guinea pigs, goats, pigs, ponies and sheep. Fewer brightly coloured wellies coming through the gate. Fewer children racing off to play.
And our team notices too.
Our lovely visitors genuinely make their day. A chat at the gate, a smiling little face or hearing children laughing around the park is part of what makes Farmer Palmer’s such a happy place to work.
So this year, we decided not to wait for Naughty November to take over.
The Guardians of Fun Call an Emergency Meeting
Ahead of November’s arrival, the Guardians of Fun at Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park near Poole in Dorset gathered with some particularly concerned members of the Farmer Palmer’s Christmas Elf Council, whose very reason for being is to hear children giggle and see families having fun.
An emergency council meeting was called.
The question was simple:
What could we do differently this November?
Because children still need fresh air, exercise, challenges, play and little adventures, even when the nights draw in.
Toddlers still need somewhere to explore and make new little friends. Grandparents still need ideas for a few hours out with the grandchildren. Parents want somewhere easy and welcoming to catch up with friends while their children play. And sometimes the partner, grandparent or friend of an Annual Pass or Winter Smart Pass holder simply wants to come along too without turning it into an expensive day out.
Discounted Family Days Out This November
The Elves listened.
The Guardians of Fun put their heads together.
And a plan was hatched.
This November, Monday to Wednesday will have discounted admission, giving families another reason to grab their favourite coat, pull on the wellies and come and see us.
Farmer Palmer’s will be closed on Thursdays during November.
So, if you are already planning things to do with the kids in Dorset this November, looking for a toddler-friendly day out near Poole, somewhere to take the grandchildren, or simply fancy escaping the sofa for a few hours, put Farmer Palmer’s in the diary.
Naughty November may be on his way.
But the Guardians of Fun and the Christmas Elves are ready for him.
