Pigs & Piglets

We currently have three Kune Kune pigs at Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park. We have some piglets arriving in March 2023 ready for our Easter pig racing activity, come and long and see who wins!

Kune Kune Pigs

Pigs do not like being muddy or dirty during the winter. In hot summer months they cover themselves in cool mud & water to regulate their body temperature – because pigs cannot sweat! Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park is home to lots of pigs.

Farmer Palmer says...

•A male pig is called a boar. A female is called a sow and a baby pig is a piglet. They make an oink sound.
•Pigs don’t have sweat glands and white pigs burn easily. This is why they roll in the mud, which works like suntan lotion protecting their skin and keeping them cool.
•What colour are the pigs?
•Can you count the pigs?

Our Farm Park Animals

Farmer Palmer's animals - including our pigs - are traditional farm animals, together with popular pet animals like guinea pigs and rabbits. They are taken care of by our dedicated team in the Animal Barn in line with Defra's Farm Animal Welfare Council's Five Freedom Advice. Pigs do not like being muddy or dirty during the winter.
